Friday, February 24, 2012, 7:30pm – 9:00pm Introduction to Daoist Essential Oil Qigong
Cost: $5.00
Location:
BodyMind Integration Center 118 Main St #1B (2nd floor) Watertown, MA 02472-4425
Description:
For thousands of years, Daoist practitioners and recluses have been at the forefront of integrating holistic medicine with energy work and self-cultivation. From the first works on the medicinal properties of plants to the search for the purest herbs for elixirs to prolong life, improve health, and heighten awareness, these masters integrated the bounty of the natural world into their martial, healing, and self-cultivation arts. Today, contemporary scientific advances have identified the healing compounds of many plants and developed means of extracting them as essential oils that can be used topically, aromatically, and internally to help treat a variety of illnesses, imbalances, and ailments, creating a powerful tool for qigong practitioners. This workshop will introduce how to integrate certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils into Qigong practices to cleanse, balance, restore, and energize the human body and open higher states of mental acuity, emotional awareness, and spiritual consciousness. Master Zhang will guide participants through a preparatory opening exercise to enter Qi space that will create an “innerscape” where practitioners can leave external concerns and stresses behind while increasing the circulation of Qi. Next, Master Zhang will teach participants a detoxifying hand and foot reflexology acupressure technique to expunge toxins, remove blockages, and treat imbalances throughout the body, while circulating Qi throughout the body and actively engaging Daoist techniques of release and acquiescence to restore balance, purpose, and determination. Lastly, Master Zhang will instruct participants in a concluding exercise for grounding the practitioner against future imbalances, physical disease, and mental and emotional stress.
